Annual report 2005 - 06

Report of the Executive Director:

A key priority during the last year has been the development of the staff teams, including the managers, at each of our nine care homes.

This has generated a positive and enthusiastic response, which has led to real benefits for our residents and the company as a whole. Each home is realising its potential as an individual business whilst benefiting from being part of a group of nine.

Greater responsibility has been devolved to the home managers and, with their guidance, staff feel more empowered. Our results show that there are clear benefits to this approach: staff turnover is lower, reducing our need to employ agency staff, and our occupancy levels, at 95%, exceed the national average of 92%.

Each home has attained the quality ‘kite mark’ for the ‘Having Your Say’ initiative, a scheme which not only enables residents to have a say about the services they receive but also ensures their views are acted upon.

Once again, it really has been a pleasure to see our staff achieve so much – they really care about the people who live in our homes. Their personal commitment and effort do so much to enhance our residents’ quality of life and provide peace of mind to their families.
