Building new homes
Within Stratford upon-on-Avon and Daventry districts, we are currently working in a number of areas to provide a range of quality homes that meet a variety of housing needs. We are also exploring opportunities in other local authority areas.
Our current projects include:
- Hanbury Close, Middlemore, Daventry :
Continuing our partnership with Daventry District Council to help meet housing needs in the area, we have purchased 19 properties from Harron Homes. Of the 19 homes the District Council made seven available for rent and the remaining 12 available for shared ownership.
Three of the shared ownership homes were purchased with the solar panels, which were installed for water heating, reducing fuel bills while contributing to a sustainable way of living. - Lighthorne Heath, Warwickshire:
The association is working closely with the Parish Council, Stratford-upon-Avon District Council and the Warwickshire Rural Housing Enabler on this community development. It will encompass 22 new homes as well as a new doctors surgery and post office.
By April 2007 we had completed 12 properties for both shared ownership and renting. - Shottery Hall, Shottery, Stratford upon Avon:
We are working with English Courtyard to provide four two-bedroom apartments for people aged over 55 within their prestigious development of retirement apartments and cottages. A bungalow for rent to an applicant with disabilities or over 55 years of age is also being built within the grounds. Completion of these new homes will be in early 2008. - Diglis Basin, Worcester:
We have been working in partnership with Worcester City Council and Taylor Woodrow on this regeneration development at the heart of the city.
The development has been designed to enable people on low incomes to rent or part buy a new home on the bank on the canal in Worcester.
In March 2007 we completed the first phase of the development; building 22 homes to rent and a further eight homes for shared ownership. - Earslwood, Solihull, West Midlands:
We are building four bungalows on land owned by the association for letting at affordable rent to local people or those with a strong connection to the village. Completion will be in March 2007. - Various sites, Stratford-upon-Avon:
The association owns a number of sites upon which new affordable housing could be built provided that planning permissions can be gained and there are no technical or logistical obstacles. Feasibility studies are currently being done for each of these sites.
The association is in continual dialogue with local authorities, land owners and developers to identify new opportunities to provide more affordable housing. We will up-date this area with news of new schemes as they are approved.
